Your Inner Compass: How to Trust Yourself and Move Forward

Have you ever felt that nagging doubt inside?

The one that says this isn’t quite right, or there’s something more for me, but you don’t know what to do with it?

In my last blog, we explored the question “What’s holding you back?” and how uncovering our subconscious blocks is the first step toward living a life that actually feels like home.

But once you’ve seen what’s been keeping you stuck, another question naturally rises up:
What now?

This is where so many people stall. Not because they don’t want to move forward, but because they don’t trust themselves to choose the right path.
And that’s where your inner compass comes in.

What is your inner compass?

Your inner compass isn’t a perfectly marked map or a guaranteed outcome.
It’s the part of you that knows, even if you can’t quite explain why.

It’s the feeling in your gut, the pull in your chest, the soft “yes” or “no” that your mind might ignore, but your soul never forgets.
It’s your intuition. Your values. Your body’s wisdom.
It’s the truth you often already know, but feel unsure whether to trust.

So many of us have spent years, maybe even decade, learning to override this wisdom in favour of what’s “logical,” “safe,” or “expected.”
We look outside of ourselves for answers, for validation, for reassurance.
But the most important guidance you’ll ever receive comes from within.

When I work with clients, whether through Reiki, Akashic Records readings, or coaching, I often see the same pattern:
It’s not that they don’t know what they want.
It’s that they’ve stopped trusting their own voice.

Why trusting yourself can feel so hard

If you’ve ever ignored your gut feeling and got hurt, or followed your heart and were judged for it, you’re not alone.

Maybe you’ve asked yourself:

  • What if I make the wrong decision?

  • What if I disappoint people?

  • What if I don’t have what it takes?

Let me gently say this: these fears are valid. But they’re also not the end of the story.
Self-trust isn’t something we either have or don’t, it’s a relationship we rebuild.
Like a muscle, it grows stronger the more we practice.

Signs you might be out of alignment

If you're not quite sure whether you’re following your inner compass right now, here are some common signs it might be out of sync:

  • You constantly second-guess yourself or seek outside reassurance

  • You say “yes” when you mean “no”

  • You feel busy, but not fulfilled

  • You feel disconnected from what you really want

  • You make decisions from fear, not trust

If any of those feel familiar, you’re not broken, you’re just being nudged back home.

Because when your inner compass is switched on, life doesn’t become perfect , but it does become clearer.
Lighter. More aligned. More like you.

Mini Exercise: Activate Your Inner Compass

Here’s a simple but powerful way to reconnect with your inner knowing. You might like to light a candle, sit somewhere quiet, or place your favourite crystal nearby.

Step 1: Ground

Place one hand on your heart and one on your belly. Close your eyes.
Take 3 slow, deep breaths. Feel the ground beneath you, holding you.

Step 2: Ask

Gently ask yourself one of the following:

  • What do I need right now?

  • What feels true for me, even if it scares me?

  • Where do I feel pulled, even if I don’t know why?

Step 3: Listen

Let go of needing a big answer. Just notice what arises, it could be a word, a feeling, a memory, a body sensation or an energy.. Don’t overthink it. Let it speak.

Step 4: Act

Ask yourself:

What’s one small step I could take today to honour what I just heard?

It might be something tiny , maybe just sitting and relaxing, , journaling, saying no, going for a walk, or reaching out for support.

That’s how self-trust begins:
Not in the big leaps, but in the quiet yeses.
The small moments of listening, and choosing to give attention to what you find.

You already know more than you think

Even when you feel uncertain, lost, or disconnected , your compass hasn’t disappeared.
It may be quiet, but it’s never gone.

Your truth is still there. Waiting patiently.
You are more than capable of moving forward, it just takes one choice, one moment, one breath at a time.

If you’re ready to reconnect with your inner compass and move into a life that feels deeply aligned, I’d love to support you through my Realign & Rise 1:1 programme..

You're not meant to do it all alone, you don’t have to.

Come home to yourself.
